How it started
Latina Mercado started from a feeling we know very well: missing home.
As a Peruvian living in Australia, I often found myself searching everywhere for the products I grew up with — the snacks I missed, the ingredients for a familiar meal, or simply a chocolate that could instantly bring back a memory.
Finding them in Western Australia wasn't always easy. Sometimes it meant searching through different stores, travelling further than expected, or simply going without.
Together with my partner, we realised we weren't the only ones experiencing this.
Latina Mercado was created to make those little pieces of home easier to find — and a little closer to you.
About Us — Purpose
Because home can be a flavour
Moving to another country can be exciting, challenging and everything in between.
Many of us leave home looking for new opportunities, new experiences and a different future but that doesn't mean we stop missing the little things we grew up with.
A familiar flavour can't replace home, but sometimes it can make it feel just a little closer.
That's what we want Latina Mercado to be: a place where you can find familiar favourites, discover something new and enjoy a small taste of Latin America wherever you are.

The people behind Latina Mercado
Latina Mercado is a small business created in Perth by a Peruvian and a Welshman who somehow ended up building a Latin grocery store together.
What started with us searching for familiar Peruvian products quickly became something bigger: an idea to make Latin flavours easier to find across Western Australia.
We're still growing, learning and adding new favourites along the way and we're very happy to have you here from the beginning.
